As the dawn breaks in the East and the first tendrils of the light illuminate the receding dark I turn in my slumbers.
My arm reaches for her, my fingertips locate her flesh, soft & warm under my touch.
Despite my touch she remains just out of reach, this woman that I have long loved, longer lusted for and desired.
She has been my muse throughout my darkest times and yet now she fades softly into darkness as the night fades with the dawn.
I will remain, with and yet without, possessing and yet loosing, holding and yet bereft.
She will be gone of that there will be no doubt. Could any replace her, I doubt they will.
My siren will call me always from beyond, secure in the knowledge that, when the time does come, I will return to her.
